Getting around
This page is for the participants of the 2012 FANHS National Conference who are not familiar with Albuquerque.
The venue, Marriott Hotel, 2101 Louisiana NE (corner of America’s Parkway) is accessible to restaurants. Please ask for list and map of restaurants from hotel staff.
The hotel DOES NOT provide shuttle to the airport. It provides shuttle to areas within 5-mile radius to the hotel. To learn more about the hotel, click hotel.
From the airport going to the hotel (& vice versa), take
Sunport Shuttle at the airport. This usually costs around $15 per person and $5 additional person. (If you are taking a taxi, it will cost between $25 to $35.)
NOTE: There are very few taxis in Albuquerque. You might be better off taking the public transportation to getting around, if you don’t have a car. The RAPID RIDE stops in front of the hotel. This can take you to the Old Town (one ride), and Biopark (2 rides).
Old Town
•The Old Town (founded in 1706) is a must for tourists. Click www.albuquerqueoldtown.com.
•During summertime, the Plaza (in the Old Town) has shows every night from Wed to Sunday at 6:00 pm. Examples of past shows: Flamenco, Mariarchi, Latin dance or a band. It is a vibrant place. The shows are usually FREE since the Plaza is an open space. For schedule of performances, visit http://www.cabq.gov/cultural-services.
Indian Pueblo Cultural Center
During summertime, they have a cultural show (Thurs, Fri) at 2:00 pm. (NOTE: This is part of the field trip that the Family Services are offering for children. See Family Services.) Entrance: $4 (museum & show)
Taking the public transportation from hotel to Old Town:
Walk out the front door and take the bus. The Family Services will post the bus schedule. Stop at the Rio Grande and walk one block north to the plaza.
